A CLT is a not for profit organisation whose role it is to steward property for the long term well-being of the community. In particular the objective is to provide perpetual affordability of properties so that the properties are accessible to people who would otherwise be at risk of being forced out of the community due to rising property prices. CLTs achieve this through affordable rentals, housing cooperatives and shared equity home ownership.
